About + Contact

I am available for content strategy, freelance writing, on-air expertise, social media hosting and public speaking opportunities.

I am a seasoned, savvy, straightforward content strategist with tons of editorial experience at sites you love and loyally read.

I will apply the techniques, tricks and strategy I developed as an editor at major women's lifestyle sites and in nurturing smaller sites to your site.

As a founding senior editor at Yahoo! Shine, I oversaw two of the most successful verticals on the site. I created and curated thoughtful, community-active, voice-driven content in Healthy Living, I drove it to consistently be one of the highest-clicked channels on Shine and pulled it up on ComScore from #17 to #3 in its category within months. I later took over Parenting and applied the same content strategies, increasing user engagement 130% within nine months. I tallied more than 30 million pageviews and 40,000 comments with my own writing, launched Yahoo!'s first-ever Pinterest boards and pitched campaigns that won multi-million-dollar relationships with major brands and won the interest of the White House's military family program. .

Then I did something radical -- I left my job. I took a big, flying leap from one of the most massive sites on the internet to make something of my own. I am building a site right now that is full of fire and fabulousness -- and I am incorporating all of those editorial skills (yes, even the staff meetings!) to make it work.

I want to help you feel that good about your content, too. I want to share my secrets and insights to help you create posts that light up you, your readers and brands you want to work with -- and keep it organized, assigned, on schedule and shining.

CONTENT STRATEGIST & EDITOR I have extensive editorial experience that includes content curation, production, promotion and leadership for wide-net companies like Yahoo! to mid-level lifestyle sites in relaunch mode like Galtime.com to smaller start-up niche blogs like Plated.com. I thrive working with teams of super-smart, forward-thinking people who want to give more voice to get more eyes on their site.  To learn more about my In Chief services, click here.

WRITER Find my writing on many stops along the Internet. I am a contributing writer and video blogger at Babble Voices. I also contribute to MSNʼs TakePart.com, ParentsConnect and Mom.me. I have been a featured writer on AOL, have been published on Huffington Post and wrote in-depth profiles of terminally ill and profoundly injured patients and families for CarePages.com.

BRAND AMBASSADOR I am an active participant in sponsored campaigns, using engaging storytelling and video to create a substantial editorial package for brands that include Target, Energizer, Home Depot as well as nonprofit organizations that empower and educate women and children.

VIDEO I got my start in broadcast as a News at Nine intern at WGN-TV and then filmed, directed and produced the first-ever thesis documentary at Oregon State University for my masterʼs degree. Today, I am a seasoned on-air expert with continued media training and exposure. I have appeared on national television on my stomping grounds at WGN- TV and Better TV, on national Sirius and XM stations, including Martha Stewart Radio. Local appearances include NBC-5 Chicago, ABC-7 Chicago, FM-NY and FM-CHI news radio, KGO-TVʼs “View from the Bay” and “7 Live!”, ABCʼs “Good Morning, Northwest”, KPTVʼs “Better Portland.” I appear regularly on Huffington Post Live and host a video show called One-Der Woman: The Single Momʼs Guide to Happiness.

SPEAKER My speaking engagements include Association for Research on Mothering, Mom 2.0, BlogHer, Blog Talk Radio, Ladies Who Launch, Truman State University and Oregon State University.
